Locals observe bandh to protest lack of power supply in Jalaput

Koraput: A 12-hour bandh is being observed by locals against irregularities in power and drinking water supply at Jalaput under Machkund Hydro Power Project region on Saturday.

Normal life has been adversely hit as all the shops, markets and other commercial units remained closed.

Resentment was brewing among locals over frequent power glitches and erratic water supply. Though the locals had apprised the officials of Hydro project and Jalaput executive engineer, no step was allegedly taken for resolving such grievances.

According to reports, the locals locked up three gates of the Jalaput dam as a mark of protest.
