Locals detain cattle laden vehicles, stage road blockade

Cuttack: Vehicular movement on the busy streets of Badambadi in the city was disrupted for some time in the morning today as locals staged a road blockade after detaining two Tata Magic vehicles carrying 10 cattle meant for trafficking.

According to sources, two Tata magic vehicles carrying 10 cattle were going through the Badambadi area in the wee hours of Sunday. On being informed about this, the locals detained the two vehicles and rescued the cattle. However, the drivers and helpers of the vehicles managed to escape from the spot, the sources added.

Following the incident, the locals staged a road blockade demanding arrest of the driver and helper. However, they withdrew the strike after an assurance of action from the police.
