Locals block road by placing villager’s body in Nuapada

Nuapada: Vehicular movement on Sinapali-Dharmagada route was disrupted today after locals blocked the road at Chalana by keeping a villager’s dead body protesting police inaction on a complaint filed over an attack on the villager a week back.

The deceased, identified as Ujala Jal of Chalana village, was injured critically after he was beaten up by another villager Rabi Das on May 13 over some issues. Jal was initially rushed to the Sinapali hospital and later shifted to the Khariar hospital as his condition deteriorated. He succumbed to his injuries late last night.

Though Jal had lodged the police complaint immediately after the attack, the accused are yet to be nabbed, which irked the locals and they resorted to road blockade.
