Locals block NH, demand arrest of teacher accused of rape

Kalahandi: Vehicular movement was disrupted at Amapani under Dharmagada sub-division in Kalahandi district today as locals staged a road blockade at Amapani Square demanding arrest of a teacher who had allegedly raped a woman in the district last month.

The locals under the banner of Zilla Mali Samaj also held a protest meeting alleging failure of the district police in arresting  the accused.

“Though an FIR was filed at police station against the teacher in rape case, no action has been taken by the police in this regard so far. We demand immediate arrest of the accused,” alleged a villager.

It may be mentioned here that the accused teacher had allegedly raped a woman at Bhaliajora of the district on May 20.
