Locals attack marriage procession in city

Bhubaneswar: Tension ran high in Bhimatangi area here after some locals attacked a marriage procession over playing of loud music on Wednesday night leaving several people injured.

According to sources, the irate locals attacked Asutosh Swain, who was part of the procession, with sharp weapons. Besides, they also ransacked bikes and procession lights during the scuffle, the sources added.

As soon as news of the clash spread, tension erupted in Sundarapada area. Some locals of the area armed with sharp weapons and sticks marched towards Bhimatangi.

On being informed about the possible group clash, police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.

A case in this regard has been registered with Airfield police.
