Bhubaneswar: Putting Minister Sanjay Das Burma into fresh trouble, State BJP unit on Sunday demanded questioning of him regarding his alleged links with arrested Bairiranjan Das, chief of SLB Media and Entertainment, a company which was involved in money circulation business.

Briefing media persons here, Samir Mohanty, BJP State vice president, said the nexus between Das Burma and Das should be found out as family members of the former is now publishing a daily ‘Sarbasadharana’, which was earlier owned by the latter.

Notably, the Information and Broadcasting Ministry had allowed the SLB Media to publish the news daily, the BJP leader added.

Mohanty further alleged, “Though the Commissionerate Police knew about the rapport between the Das Burma and Das following allegations were levelled by the daily’s staff against the SLB Media regarding payment issues and shifting of ownership in August 2013, the investigating officer did not either bother to probe in detail into the charges or question the minister. This shows the Commissionerate Police was trying to save the minister.”

SLB Media chief Bairiranjan Das was caught by the depositors and handed over to the Nayapalli police in September 2015, said Mohanty.

The BJP leader further said Das Burma, in his affidavit filed in 2009 before the Election Commission, said he was the managing director of Team Media and Hospitality Pvt Ltd. However, in his 2014 poll affidavit, the Food Supply minister said his wife was the managing director of the company with registered office at L-3/2, Labour Colony in Bhubaneswar.

Reacting to the charges, BJD spokespersons Sameer Das said, “The Chief Minister will examine the veracity of of the documents released by the BJP and take appropriate decision at right time.”

Meanwhile, youth wing of the State BJP staged a demonstration in the Capital city demanding resignation of Das Burma.
