Bhubaneswar: With lakhs of state government employees still waiting for their March salary in the middle of April, Odisha Finance Minister Shashi Bhushan Behera today said that a lightning strike has led to a technical glitch resulting in a delay in disbursement of salaries.

As per reports, over 4 lakh State government employees have not received their March month's salary till date.
Behera said, State government has never delayed payment of salaries and it is due to some issue in the Human Resources Management System (HRMS).

"The payment has been delayed as the server of our Human Resources Management System (HRMS) was damaged in lightning. Presently it has been repaired and the bill processing has begun," he added.

"Class III & IV employees have been the worst sufferers. They are even finding it hard to buy groceries and one cannot describe the plight," said Cuttack district president of Odisha Karmachari Sangram Samiti, Prabhat Debata.

Behera on the other hand said the employees who are affected due to the delay must understand the problem as such issues are common during a shift from manual to a digitized mechanism. The situation has been brought under control and there will be no more delay in disbursement of salaries, he added.
