Lightning kills son, injures mother in Mayurbhanj

Mayurbhanj: In a heartrending incident, a youth died and his mother sustained injuries as lightning struck them at Dubalabeda village in Mayurbhanj district on Monday evening.

The deceased was identified as Rohit Kumar Mahanta.

Sources said when the mother-son duo was collecting mangoes at around 4 am, lightning struck them, following which the youth died on the spot.

Getting information, Rairangpur Town police reached the spot and recovered the body. The injured woman was later admitted to Rairangpur hospital.
