Legal Metrology official under Vigilance scanner

Rourkela: Vigilance sleuths today conducted simultaneous raids on the office and houses of Assistant Controller of Legal Metrology, Rourkela Bidyadhar Biswal on charges of amassing property disproportionate to his known sources of income.

Acting on a complaint, a team of 25 officials of the anti-corruption wing including three DSPs conducted the raids at 5 places, including his office at Uditnagar here. However, the officials could not search the residential quarters  at LIC Colony here and sealed it since it was locked.

The Vigilance teams also searched Biswal's house at Pokhariput and his relatives’ house at Patrapada in Bhubaneswar and his ancestral house at Nimikheta in Balugaon of Khurda district.

The exact amount of movable and immovable assets is yet to be ascertained as searches are still on, sources informed.
