Bhubaneswar: The 23-year-old lion, Laxman, one of the oldest members of Nandankanan Zoological Park here died reportedly of old age here on Tuesday.
Official sources said, Laxman was not keeping well for the last couple of weeks and the big cat had also left food in the last two days. He died in his enclosure at around 3.30 pm today.
Born in 1994, Laxman was one of the major attractions for the visitors along with other big cats at Nandankanan zoo.
With Laxman’s death, the lion population at the zoo has now reduced to 14 with six males, seven females and a cub.
