Nrutanga: The effigy of Law minister Pratap Jena was burnt by locals in Nrutanga of Mahanga protesting discrepancies in his poll affidavit during the last general elections about a plot owned by his wife in Cuttack CDA.

The protestors hit the road demanding immediate resignation of Jena and action against him for allegedly hiding the information from public.

Ramakanta Barala, Nrutanga samiti member, said, “In the poll affidavit, Jena had mentioned owning a house in Jobra. However, there was no information regarding the CDA plot which is registered in his wife’s name. Therefore, we demand his resignation for hiding information and action against him and his wife. Agitation will be intensified if no steps are taken in this regard.”

The Law Minister was not available for comments on the protest staged by the locals in Nrutanga.
