Late Justice BP Ray given guard of honour in HC

Cuttack: Justice Bhabani Prasad Ray, who died yesterday, was given a guard of honour on the High Court premises here today before his body was taken to his native place at Biridi in Jagatsinghpur district for cremation.

Judges of High Court, Advocate General, members of High Court bar association and other bar councils members were present on the occasion.

Justice Ray, a sitting judge of Orissa High Court, died on Thursday following a prolonged illness. He was 61.

Justice Ray was first appointed to the Orissa HC judge in 2007. But, he was transferred to the Kerala High Court in 2010. He was again posted as a Judge at the Orissa High Court in 2014. He was born at Biridi in Jagatsinghpur in 1955.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has expressed his condolence over Ray’s sad demise.
