Landmines, explosives recovered in Koraput again

Lamtaput: A day after seizing a large cache of explosive material Tanginiguda-Dasamantapur road near Baipariguda of the district, BSF personnel recovered two live landmines and explosives in Lamtaput area in Koraput district today.

According to reports, the BSF personnel of 143 Battalion were on a routine combing operation this morning when they found two live landmines placed inside a culvert near Kadama village on Jeypore-Lamptaput road.

Besides, they also found a polythene sack inside the culvert. On opening the sack, they found 22 electric detonators, a bundle of 10-metre flexible wire and a country-made rifle.

After seizing the explosives, a bomb disposal squad of the BSF diffused the two landmines.

Suspecting this to be the handiwork of the Maoists, the BSF personnel have intensified combing operation in the area.
