Bhubaneswar: In a sensational case, a female playback singer has labelled harassment charges on pretext of marriage against a music director of the Odia film industry.

The victim has lodged a complaint with the Police against music director, Dipu Dasmohapatra. Police have also recorded the statement of the victim.

To back her allegations, the victim has handed over an intimate chat history on social media. As per the victim, both fell in love two years back following which they got into a relationship. However, the music director betrayed and didn’t marry her as committed, the victim alleged, adding further that she was also blackmailed by the music director.

According to sources, the duo was counselled for reconciliation earlier by Commissionerate Police. However, as per the victim, the music director got married before any settlement.

“His name is Dipu Dashmohapatra and he exploited me. He didn’t keep his promise of marrying me and also threatened to kill me. By denying marriage, he has spoiled my life. I want him to get punishment for all the wrong he has done to me,” said the victim.

On the other hand, Dipu has refuted the allegations. “I told her to leave me because I was married but she is forcefully harassing me. I have never told to marry her and also never loved her,” said Dipu.

“We have already received a complaint from the Mahila Police Station and we are currently examining the sections under which case can be registered. Once the case is registered, we will investigate the matter,” said Deputy Commissioner, Satyabrata Bhoi.
