Keonjhar: A senior lady pharmacist of the Odisha Mining Corporation (OMC) dispensary was on Tuesday arrested by the Vigilance sleuths in Gandhamardan of Keonjhar district while accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000.

According to sources, the pharmacist identified as Lina Priyadarshini, had sought bribe from one medicine representative Rajesh Kumar Behera to clear a bill and buy medicine for the dispensary recommended by him.

Following this, Rajesh approached the Vigilance in Cuttack and filed a complaint against the lady pharmacist.

Based on the complaint, the Vigilance sleuths laid a trap and caught her red-handed this morning with the bunch of notes she received from Rajesh. Lina was later arrested and a search is on at her residence to ascertain the exact amount of movable and immovable assets she possesses, sources said.

“To clear the bills and buy medicine of a particular brand recommended by the MR, accused Lina was demanding Rs 10,000. A trap was laid and she was arrested while accepting the bribe from the complainant,” said a senior Vigilance official.
