Boudh: In what can be termed as misuse of power and position,  the Inspector In-Charge of Boudh police station has been accused of allegedly torturing a couple of Sarsara village here Wednesday midnight.

According to sources, Rabindra Mallick and wife Padmini have lodged a written complaint with the Superintendent of Police against Boudh IIC Pritimanjari Garnayak demanding action against her for allegedly subjecting them to third-degree torture at the police station.

As per the allegations, the IIC took the couple to the police station in the name of interrogation and thrashed both of them brutally.

Padmini, after going through the torture, was rushed to Boudh District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) in a critical condition.

“Police, while interrogation, asked us whether we know someone from Bagapada village. When we said no, they attacked us with lathis and my wife was thrashed mercilessly. She is unable to walk now," cried the husband.

His wife who is undergoing treatment at the hospital alleged, “The lady thrashed me with wooden stick several times. I am unable to sit or even walk properly. I don't know why they took me and thrashed saying that I know something and I am hiding it from them.”

Meanwhile, the IIC could not be contacted over the issue. On the other hand, Boudh SP Sudhanshu Sekhar Mishra also denied of receiving any complaint on the issue. Mishra said, “I have not received any such complaint. If in future any allegations come, then the department will take necessary action against whosoever is found responsible."
