Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Human Rights Commission (OHRC) today sought a report from the state government on Kunduli gang rape, the victim of which committed suicide on January 22.

Acting on a petition filed by a social activist and lawyer Nishikanta Mishra, the OHRC directed the Chief Secretary and Director General of Police (DGP) to submit the report within 15 days.

The petitioner alleged that the administration failed to protect and provide necessary assistance to the minor girl who was gang raped allegedly by security personnel on October 10 last year.

"The girl committed suicide as she couldn't bear the pressure. I approached the Commission stating that the apathy of the investigating agency of the government led to the death of the girl," said Mishra.
