Koraput: Amid the 12-hour Odisha bandh and protests by the Opposition across the state over the alleged suicide of Kunduli gang rape survivor, the Maoists today lent their support to the shutdown and have called for 48 hour bandh across the state.

Releasing an audio tape, Aruna, secretary of the Srikakulam-Koraput division committee of CPI (Maoist) has said, "We support the 12-hr bandh being observed by the Opposition parties. Even after 100 days of the barbaric incident, Kunduli gang rape survivor could not get justice so we demand that Koraput SP, Collector and DIG S. Saini be immediately transferred."

This apart, the extremist leader said, "We have decided to observe 48-hour bandh across the state and also urge the people to boycott the Republic Day celebrations across the state especially in Koraput district on Friday."

Meanwhile, normal life was thrown out of gear today due to a dawn to dusk bandh and hartal called by the Opposition parties protesting the Kunduli suicide.
