Bhubaneswar: Protesting CM Naveen Patnaik's decision for an SIT probe into Kunduli incident, agitating Congress members clashed with police today while on their way to gherao CM's residence-Naveen Niwas.

While heading towards Naveen Niwas, the Congress workers led by Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) president Prasad Harichandan along with senior party leader Pradeep Majhi had a face-off with the cops near Sishu Bhavan square in Bhubaneswar.

Sources informed that the agitators hurled eggs at police personnel who prevented them from breaking the barricade.

This protest came a day after Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik ordered a SIT probe into the gang rape and subsequent suicide of Kunduli girl.

"We are fighting for justice for Kunduli girl as well as for the safety of women in Odisha. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik is responsible for this incident. He could have saved the life of the victim," Prasad Harichandan said.

We will continue our protest until the girl gets justice, he added.

"We were heading towards Naveen Niwas to seek answers from the CM but were stopped by police and beaten up," Senior Congress leader Pradeep Majhi said.
