New Delhi: The family members of Kunduli girl, who had committed suicide after being allegedly gang raped last year, staged a dharna at Parliament Street in New Delhi today.

Backed by Congress MLA from Koraput Krushna Chandra Sargaria and former MP Pradeep Majhi, the family of the victim staged demonstration protesting injustice and lapses in investigation of the case.

The Congress MLA demanded a CBI probe into the incident citing that Odisha government is allegedly trying to suppress the issue in the name of investigation.

The 14-year-old school girl, who was allegedly gang raped by four security personnel on October 10, 2017, had subsequently committed suicide at her residence on January 23, 2018.

The girl had earlier alleged that she was gang-raped by four persons in camouflage uniform in Lanjiguda Forest near Kunduli.

During her treatment at Saheed Laxman Nayak Medical College and Hospital in Koraput she had accused the police of harassing and putting pressure on her to change her statement.

"We are demanding a CBI probe as Odisha government has failed to provide justice to my daughter," said mother of the deceased Kunduli girl. We will also meet the President of India on the issue, she added.

Congress alleged that the family has completely lost faith on the investigation by Odisha police.
"We want the truth for which CBI probe is being demanded," said Sargaria.
