Mumbai: Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik who was in Mumbai today to attend the presenting ceremony of the book- 'The Tall Man Biju Patnaik,' faced protest from Prabasi Odias (non-resident Odias) over Kunduli gang rape and suicide case.

A group of Odias led by BJP leader Upasana Mohapatra staged protest against Patnaik in front of YB Chouhan auditorium.

"Go back Naveen Patnaik! We are protesting against the CM who is here to launch a book. Is this his principle not to provide security to women in his State? I can't go to my hometown without feeling insecure after what happened to the 14-year-old girl of Kunduli," Upasana Mohapatra said.

Mumbai police took around 15 protesters into preventive custody to ensure smooth conduct of the book presenting ceremony.

Author of the book Sundar Ganeshan, reviewer Subroto Bagchi, eminent flautist Hariprasad Chaurasia, noted writer Ramakant Panda, former Mumbai police commissioner Arup Patnaik were present on the occasion.

The book was launched formally on January 27 in Bhubaneswar by a host of dignitaries including former President Pranab Mukherjee, former PM HD Deve Gowda, former deputy PM LK Advani, and CPI-M leader Sitaram Yechury.
