Jajpur: Hundreds of devotees took holy dip at the Dasaswamedha ghat on the bank of river Baitarani in Jajpur as the Kumbh Mela began early Saturday.

As per the belief, if someone takes holy dip in Baitarani river and offers oblation to forefathers on the occasion of the ‘Mahabaruni Snana’, the ancestors will achieve ‘Moksha’ (liberation).

After the ‘Alati’ (waving of lamps) at the Dasaswamedha ghat on the bank of Baitarani river last evening, the ‘Biswa Shanti’ yagnya has been started.

Meanwhile, the Jajpur district administration has made elaborate arrangements including putting up barricades to avoid any untoward incident during the Kumbh Mela.
