Kuakhai murder: 2 including woman detained

Bhubaneswar: In what could possibly throw more light in the gruesome murder of Unmay Padhi of BJB Nagar, Commissionerate Police on Sunday detained two persons including the woman who was earlier seen with the deceased in a viral sex video clip.

The woman along with one of her friends was detained by cops while the duo was trying to escape to Kolkata, sources said.

Earlier, Unmay Padhi's half-burnt body was recovered from Kuakhai riverbed on March 21.

As the family had suspected that Padhi was murdered over a sex video clip that had gone viral in 2017, senior police officials have started a probe to ascertain the exact motive behind the murder case.

Police sources said a burnt laptop and other electronic gadgets that were recovered from the crime spot have been sent for forensic examination and retrieval of data.

Exactly a year ago, an obscene video had gone viral on social media in which Unmay and a woman from Chandbali were seen together, following which he was even arrested by the Kharavela Nagar police.

A senior official requesting anonymity further revealed that the woman, who was seen in the video with Unmay, will now be quizzed to elicit more information in the case.
