Koraput: With the identity of the accused involved in the Kunduli minor girl gang rape case yet to be ascertained by Odisha Police, an active Maoist body has denied involvement of its cadres in the incident.

Andhra-Odisha Border Special Zonal Committee (AOBSZC) in an audio tape has denied role of Maoist men in the heinous crime. Besides, the Maoists have strongly condemned the incident and called for Koraput bandh on Monday.

The bandh has been called in protest of the alleged atrocities of security personnel on innocent villagers.

“Naxals are being falsely implicated in the case and no cadre is behind such incident,” said Jagabandhu, a member of AOBSZC of CPI (Maoist) in the audio tape.

Earlier, a class IX girl student was gang raped by four persons suspected to be security personnel on October 10 which has sparked off public outcry over the incident.

Odisha Police has tagged it as a red flag case and special teams have started investigations while the accused are yet to be identified.

Taking stern note of the gang rape of a minor girl allegedly by ‘men in uniform,’ Odisha State Commission for Women (SCW) on Friday registered a case and its team will be shortly visiting the survivor, who is now battling for life at Sahid Laxman Nayak Medical College and Hospital in Koraput.
