Koraput civil supplies official in Vigilance net

Jeypore: Vigilance sleuths on Tuesday arrested Koraput district civil supplies officer Ballav Chandra Das for accepting Rs 50,000 bribe from a miller to clear pending bills.

As per reports, Ballav Chandra had demanded the bribe to clear pending bills of Rs 22 lakh from a miller P. Sannamukha Babu following which the latter lodged a complaint with vigilance.

Officials of Vigilance, Koraput division conducted surprise raid at the office of the supplies official based on the complaint and caught him red handed while accepting bribe from Sannamukha.

“To clear the bills towards milling charges and transportation charges of 2016-17, Ballav Chandra was demanding Rs 50,000. A trap was laid and he was arrested while accepting the bribe from the complainant,” said Harekrushna Behera, Vigilance SP, Koraput division.
