Baripada: Photo of six police staff kneeling down as part of punishment given by higher-ups created more flutter among public in Mayurbhanj on Friday close on the heels of the controversy surrounding the four home guards who were meted the same treatment last Wednesday. While the previous incident was attributed to ‘dress code violation’, the latest incident seems to be a fallout of late attendance.

The photo, which is in possession of the OTV, showed the six police staff kneeling down in a ground on the Commandant office premises. Another person in a civil dress facing them seems to be reprimanding the six junior staff.

Meanwhile, the Odisha Human Rights Commission (OHRC) yesterday asked the Mayurbhanj SP and the DG (Home Guard) to submit their respective inquiry reports in four weeks on the ‘kneel punishment’ given to the four Home Guards in Baripada on June 28.

Reserve Inspector Ashok Kumar Sethi had ordered the Home Guards to kneel before the District Home Guard Office for alleged violation of dress code.
