Kin of Kunduli victim moves SC, seeks CBI probe

Bhubaneswar: Brother of the Kunduli girl, who was allegedly gang raped by security personnel in October last year and later committed suicide in January, 2018, has moved Supreme Court seeking a CBI probe into the incident.

Citing discrepancies in the forensic reports, the victim's brother alleged that said that the family has no faith in the probe being conducted by Odisha police. In the petition, he has further prayed the apex court to order for a CBI inquiry, sources said.

He has also reportedly mentioned in the petition that the state police tried to sabotage the investigation by manipulating the medical evidences.

The SC is likely to hear the petition in the third week of this month.

Earlier on February 7, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had ordered for a court-monitored probe by a special investigation team (SIT) into the alleged gang rape and suicide incident.
