Bolangir/Sonepur: Even as rumours of child theft are making rounds on social media, two minor boys from Odisha's Nuapada district outsmarted their abductors and managed to escape from their clutches. They were rescued by Bolangir police today.

As per their statement given to Police, a few unidentified persons kidnapped them from Nuapada in Sonepur district when the duo was out in the park for jogging. The miscreants reportedly blindfolded them, tied their limbs and pushed them into a Bolero.

"They were taking us in a Bolero. When the vehicle reached Bolangir, the abductors left the vehicle for something leaving us alone in the vehicle. But we managed to flee," said one of the boys.

After fleeing the vehicle, the two boys were trying to find a place to hide when town police station personnel spotted them near Bikram Chhak.

They were brought into the police station where they narrated the entire ordeal before the cops.

“At around 9 am, our PCR staffs were informed that some people had rescued two minor boys near Tikrapada. The duo was then brought to the police station. From preliminary investigation, we have found that the boys belong to Sonepur. The identities of the kidnappers and the reason for the kidnap are yet to be ascertained after further investigation,” a senior police official said.
