Bhubaneswar: The Odisha State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (OSCPCR) today started probe into the death of a 4-year-old child in Bampadi of Ghasipura block in Keonjhar district.

OSCPCR secretary Nibedita Mishra and Rajlaxmi Dash, on Friday, visited Keonjhar for an on-the-spot assessment of the situation and investigate into the alleged death of the malnourished girl, identified as  Chumki.

The child rights members also met the ailing parents of the deceased girl at the Keonjhar district hospital. Later, the team assured all possible assistance and establishment of an Anganwadi centre in the area at the earliest.

Earlier, the district administration had assured that steps would be taken to eradicate malnutrition in the tribal-dominated district a day after OTV aired news about the death of Chumki.
