Kendu leaf pluckers stage dharna over non payment of wages

Kandhamal: The kendu leaf pluckers of Raigada village under Kandhamal district of Luising Panchayat staged a dharna in front of the Head Post office in Phulbani today demanding clearance of wage dues.  It is over nine months now that hundreds of Kendu leaf pluckers of the village have not got their wages.

A Kendu leaf collector alleged that their monthly wages have not been deposited in their post office savings account since long.

Satyanaran Mishra, Superintendent of Phulbani Head Post office said, ‘‘I had no idea that their wages were pending in Luising Panchayat post office. Since I came to know about it today, I will ensure that their dues are cleared as soon as possible.
