Nuapada: Vigilance sleuths today arrested Khadial Kendu Leaf Division's DFO Laxmikanta Mishra while he was demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 2.20 lakh from a Ranger here in Nuapada district.

According to sources, a government project of Rs 13 lakh has been sanctioned for Lakhna Range in the district to construct houses and kendu leaf storage building. To approve the bills Mishra allegedly demanded bribe from Parshuram Patel, the Ranger in-charge of the area.

However, Patel informed Vigilance department and while accepting the bribe, Mishra was caught red- handed by Bhawanipatna Vigilance officials.

Meanwhile, vigilance officials are conducting simultaneous raids on Mishra's government quarter at Khariar, house in Bhubaneswar and an ancestral home in Baripada.
