Bhubaneswar: A day after the Independent MLA from Champua recorded his statement at Mahila police station here, complainant Kavita Mahakud, who claims to be his daughter-in-law, alleged that all the statements of the legislator are false.

She also demanded the MLA’s son Pankaj, to whom she claims as her husband, should be presented before her along with his family members. “Many other things have already been proved. I would also prove that Pankaj is my husband and father of my four-year old daughter. If the legislator has courage, he should conduct the DNA test of my daughter”, Kavita told OTV over phone.

The billionaire MLA yesterday recorded his statements at the Mahila police station under Section 162 CrPC in connection with the complaint lodged by Kavita, who claims to be his daughter-in-law. He had been earlier served notice by the Commissionerate police to appear before the Mahila police by September 19.

After coming out of the police station, the MLA had reiterated that the complainant was not his daughter-in-law and termed the allegations against him as baseless. “If someone lodges a complaint, police would investigate. I don’t know her. I will move court of law, if necessary,” Sanatan told media.

Earlier, Sanatan’s son Pankaj Mahakud’s statement had been recorded before the Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) Court in the city.

Notably, Kavita has filed a case of physical and mental harassment against the MLA in Bhubaneswar on March 1. A case under Sections 498 A, 341, 294 and 34 IPC was registered at the Mahila police station.

Earlier, Kavita had stated that she had tied the knot with the MLA’s eldest son Pankaj in 2012 after being separated from her first husband Debasis Mahakud.
