Kangaroo court ‘injustice’: Video of 2 persons given electric shocks goes viral

Berhampur: Two persons were allegedly beaten up and given electric shock after a kangaroo court trial at Arjipalli under Marine Police Station in Ganjam district. The video of the incident went viral on social media.

As soon as the video went viral, police swung into action to rescue the victims and rushed them to hospital.

The two were manhandled for allegedly stealing Rs 5,000 from a woman. According to police, a woman with the help of her relatives tied the hands and legs of the duo on a temple premises near her village alleging that they had stolen her money and were engaged in gambling. Later, the two were given electric shocks through a live wire.

Taking cognizance of the video clip, police registered a case against four person and started investigation. Two including husband of the woman have been detained while other perpetrators of violence are absconding, Chhatrapur SDPO Ramesh Chandra Sethi said.
