Kalahandi: A week after a 22-year-old woman suffered burn wounds on her face and hands in an acid attack in Kalampur in Kalahandi district, police managed to nab the accused Parshuram Majhi from neighbouring Andhra Pradesh.

A special team of Jaipatna police station arrested Parshuram from Rangareddy district in Andhra Pradesh and will soon bring him on a transit remand to Odisha in connection with the acid attack case, police said on Sunday.

Senior police officials informed that Parshuram had allegedly thrown acid on the girl after she rejected his love proposal on January 15.

The incident occurred when the girl was going to attend her computer classes. She was first rushed to Kalampur Community Health Centre and subsequently shifted to the district headquarters hospital at Bhawanipatna in a critical condition.

At present, the acid attack survivor is undergoing treatment at SCB Medical College and Hospital and her condition is said to be stable.
