Bhubaneswar: The Orissa High Court today rejected a bail plea moved by BJD Cuttack-Choudwar MLA Pravat Biswal who has been arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for his alleged links with the Seashore scam.

The court said after the CBI files a chargesheet in the case, the legislator can apply for bail in a lower court.

Besides, the Central investigating agency was directed by the court to complete probe on Biswal’s link with the Seashore scam within two months.

Earlier, the High Court had sought for a status report on Biswal’s health condition from the CBI.

Biswal was arrested on September 19 in connection with a dubious land deal involving the scam-tainted Seashore chit fund group. He was thereafter admitted to the Capital hospital in Bhubaneswar when he complained of nausea and other health problems. Later he was shifted to the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack on September 22.
