Jilted lover kills girl, sets her on fire

Berhampur:  Unrequited love took a ghastly turn when one Kanhu Charan Gouda strangulated a girl and later set her ablaze at Patrachudi village under Chikiti police limits in Ganjam district last night.

According to reports, accused Kanhu was in love with a girl who had rejected his advances. He used to make lewd remarks at her and once the girl brought this to the notice of her brother, he had even warned Kanhu to keep away.

To take revenge, Kanhu entered the girl’s house when she was alone last night and strangulated her to death. He later set her ablaze by pouring kerosene on her and fled soon after.

The dead body was sent to Berhampur hospital for post-mortem. Police registered a case and are on the lookout of the accused.
