Bhubaneswar: In what could possibly allow Commissionerate Police to unravel the mystery behind the death of Jigyansha Mishra, the preliminary post-mortem report on Monday revealed that her death was due to 'fall from height' and also cited presence of alcohol in her stomach.

It is now presumed that Jigyansha might have died after falling off the three storied building accidentally in an inebriated condition.

Though family members of the deceased Jigyansha, who worked in a private software company, had alleged that she was pushed from the balcony, the findings of the post mortem report ruled out such theory.

According to experts, if Jigyansha was pushed from the balcony, her body would have been recovered far off the actual spot where she was lying in a pool of blood.

Jigyansha's body was recovered near an apartment at Srivihar colony in Bhubaneswar on March 31.

“The post mortem report will certainly help police in its investigation,” said Capital Hospital Director, Manoj Das.

Sources said Jigyansha, who was staying with her family at BDA colony, had gone to attend a friend’s party at the apartment.

Jigyansha’s husband Abisekh Parmanik, who was out of the town when the incident occurred, had also demanded for an impartial probe even if the couple was not in talking terms and were having a strained relationship.

Commissionerate Police on the other hand has not yet given a clean chit to Jigyansha’s friend Sashank at whose apartment the mishap occurred.

“We are yet to arrive at any conclusion as we are waiting for the polygraph test report,” said Bhubaneswar DCP Anup Sahu.
