Bhubaneswar: After Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar, the Jharsuguda airport would the second airport in Odisha which would be made operational by April 2018, said Guru Prasad Mohapatra, chairman of Airport Authority of India (AAI).

Briefing media persons here, he said the construction of the Jharsuguda airport is scheduled to be completed by April 2018 at a projected cost of Rs 2800 crore.

“Arrangements will be made for 300 passengers in the airport while there will be other facilities like the Taxiway, Technical Block, Fire Tender and staff quarters,” Mohapatra added.

Talking about the infrastructure development of Biju Patnaik International Airport, the AAI chairman said Rs 250 crore would be spent for expansion and extension of the runway and setting up of Air Traffic Control Room in three years.

He further said AAI has plans for air connectivity to other cities of Odisha in future.
