Sundergarh: A day after a woman and her daughter were found dead under mysterious circumstances inside their house at Orampada village under Hemgiri police limits in Sundergarh district, police today revealed that both were murdered by a Jharkhand youth. The accused, who happened to be a friend of the woman’s husband, killed the two allegedly over rejection of love.

According to police, the accused, identified as Shalil Bhengra of West Singhbum, Jharkhand works as a driver at MCL.

Addressing a press conference on the incident, Sundergarh SP Pinak Mishra said, “After preliminary investigation, it was found that on the night of Christmas Eve, drunken Shalil proposed his love to the woman but she resisted his move. In a fit of rage, he murdered the woman by strangulating her. Later when he tried to ship in the dead body of the woman, her six-year-old daughter witnessed the incident and shouted, so he also murdered her. Medical reports have confirmed that there was no sexual assault involved in the case,” he said.

Both the dead bodies were recovered from inside their closed house the next day after the woman’s husband returned from his work and informed the police about the incident. Fortunately his one-and-half-year-old son who was also attacked on his head was rescued alive and later rushed to hospital.

The accused has pleaded guilty and a case been registered in this connection. He will be court forward after the post-mortem report comes in, police said.
