Jeypore landslide: Body of one labourer found

Jeypore: After 11 days of rescue work, body of one of the two labourers, trapped inside the stone quarry near Bariput since May 31, was found today.

Soon after, families of both the missing men- Ghanashyam Guru and Sanjay Dash, were called to identify the body.

The two laborers had got trapped after the hill suddenly caved in while they were excavating boulders for the ongoing Telengiri Irrigation project in the district.

An Army engineering battalion had reached the spot for the rescue work on Thursday after ODRAF, Fire Services personnel and NDRF teams failed to find the two trapped men.

The battalion conducted minor blasts at the quarry to clear the debris while section 144 was imposed within one km radius of the stone quarry. Meanwhile efforts are on to rescue the second labourer trapped inside the quarry, said sources.
