Jewellery worth Rs 3 cr looted in Rourkela

Rourkela: In a daring robbery, seven armed dacoits looted jewellery worth more than Rs 3 crore from the office of the India Infoline Finance Limited (IIFL) at Madhusudan Marg here on Friday.

According to sources, seven unidentified dacoits barged into the office and looted the jewellery and cash kept at the branch at gun point.

“Six armed dacoits entered the office when I was sitting with the manager. They targeted me with their pistol and looted the jewellery and cash,” said a customer.

“Six dacoits with guns in their hands entered the IIFL office and thrashed the manager. They also thrashed me with their revolver before decamping with the cash and jewellery available at the branch,” said a lady customer, who visited IIFL for a gold loan.

A complaint in this regard has been registered with Plant Site police, sources said.

On being informed about the incident, Rourkela SP Anirudh Singh and other police officials rushed to the spot and started investigation into the matter.
