Malkangiri: Vector-borne disease Japanese Encephalitis claimed three more lives in Malkangiri district today taking the total number of deaths in the district to 108.

Three children undergoing treatment at the Malkangiri district headquarters hospital (DHH) succumbed to the disease this morning. The deceased were identified as Ramesh Bisoi (3) of Kataguda village under Padia block and Muna Sodhi (1) and Radhika Madakami (3) of Korukonda block.

On the other hand, the district administration will door-to-door survey for three days from November 20 to prevent the spread of the viral disease. Later, children aged between 1 and 15 years would be given vaccination from the first week of December. School teachers, ASHA and Anganwadi workers will be engaged for this task. This was decided at a meeting held under the chairmanship of the district Collector yesterday.
