JE arrested for abetting woman's suicide

Jajpur: A junior engineer of Panikoili Rural development department in the district was arrested for allegedly abetting a woman RI's suicide, police said today.

Police said accused Madhusudan Das had developed love affairs with former Revenue Inspector Subhasmita Sahu of Tulati circle. The engineer trapped the RI in love claiming him as a bachelor.

When Subhasmita came to know about his marital status, a scuffle ensued between them which forced her to hang self on August 14, police added.

Father of the deceased Sanatan, who lodged complaint with police, alleged that the engineer has blackmailed his daughter by clicking photos with her. Even he purchased some properties using the money of his daughter, Sahoo added.

Korei police station IIC Chinmayee Sahoo said the accused will be produced in court under section 306 of IPC.

On the other hand, the accused engineer refuted the allegation. He said all the photographs are fake. "They are trying to trap me. I will take the case to higher court", Madhusudan said.
