Cuttack: The Jaundice outbreak in the Millenium city is getting worse with reports of the water-borne disease spreading to Kadam Rasool area after Tulasipur. Panic spread among the locals of Kadam Rasool area after one person was tested positive for the disease.

“The water problem is really acute here. We are not getting potable water,” said a local.

On the other hand, the district administration in its effort to tackle the outbreak, is repairing the old drinking water pipelines in the city and cracking down on those who are illegally drawing water from pipelines by registering criminal cases against them.

“We are in the process of repairing all the damaged pipelines. I would like to urge everyone to bring such cases to our notice so that the disease can be prevented at the root itself,” said Cuttack Municipal Corporation Commissioner Gyanaranjan Das.

Meanwhile, the number of jaundice cases detected in Tulasipur area has gone up to 136.
