Jajpur: The 18-day agitation of lawyers at Jajpur Road in the district was withdrawn today after receiving a written assurance from Law Minister Arun Kumar Sahoo.

The advocates began the agitation on April 2 demanding establishment of Additional District Judge (ADJ) Court and Tehsil Office at Jajpur. It may be mentioned here that various women and political organisations had backed the lawyers.

Eminent political leaders including Union Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, former Finance Minister Prafulla Chandra Ghadei, senior Congress leader Sarat Rout, Korei MLA Akash Dasnayak and Ama Odisha president Soumya Ranjan Patnaik had visited the striking advocates to support their demands.

The agitation was a cause of concern for people whose cases were not being heard owing to the strike.
