Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Tuesday said that the repair work of Jagamohan in Puri temple, the hall facing the 12th century shrine, will be completed by June 2.

Informing the media, Puri Collector Arvind Agarwal, said Works Department has submitted an affidavit in this regard before the Orissa High Court.

Officials of Sri Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) said, since Rath Yatra falls in the month of June it is necessary to complete the renovation work before the grand event.

Earlier, in an affidavit before the Orissa HC, the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) had said the complete repair and restoration of the ancient ceiling of Jagmohan would be completed by June 2017. It also said, steel framing of the ceiling will be completed as per schedule.

In January this year the repair work of Jagamohan began after the tussle between the ASI and the Works department over the design of the Jagamohan portal box-frame came to an end.
