Puri: The steel sheets procured for the repair of the Jagmohan chamber inside the Puri Srimandir will be cut as per the model from today. According to sources, these steel sheets will be cut using a plasma machine.

The column capitals will be confined by June 11 and June 12. Sources said that authorities are targeting to complete the pillar jacketing and confinement work on the North-west corners by Debasnana Purnima.

Seven pockets will be developed using stainless steel structures as per the model and these will be installed during the Rath Yatra. Moreover, the four pillars and areas above it will be strengthened using confinement, said core committee chairman SP Gupta.

"The major work is to confine the stone dislodging on the western edge of the chamber,” added Gupta.

On the other hand, a decision has been taken after discussions with senior servitors to remove the iron scaffolding except in weaker sections for the Snana Yatra, said core committee executive chairman Gopal Chandra Mitra.
