Puri: The ongoing repairs and conservation of Puri Jagannath temple’s Jagamohan - the hall facing the sanctum sanctorum - is almost over, said NC Pal, member of the technical core committee. The committee was formed to oversee the restoration process of the temple.

Fixing of capitol stone, columns and vertical beams have been completed. As many as 16 steel frames have been reinforced to the four columns and 16 box frames also been stacked below the stone beams.

A total of 95 tonne stainless steel have been used in the repair works, NC Pal said.

Barring some minor repairs, most of the renovation works which had started in January 27 last year were completed within the stipulated deadline before this year’s Snana Yatra ritual of the three deities.

Meanwhile, the repair of the ceiling is yet to be undertaken as the core committee has decided to carry it out during Rath Yatra when the deities would be on their annual sojourn.
