Bhubaneswar: Visitors can now get a glimpse of intricate art works on tusks as a dedicated ivory crafts gallery was inaugurated at Odisha State Museum on its 60th Foundation Celebrations here on Friday.

The museum was earlier having a lot of ivory crafts and products since long which have  now been displayed at the dedicated gallery. A separate gallery on 200th anniversary celebrations of the Paika Rebellion of Odisha is another centre of attraction and the museum.

The Indian Postal department has also launched a special envelope to mark the 60th year of foundation of Odisha State Museum.

Official sources said, Odisha Governor SC Jamir will also launch three books  including Copper plat inscriptions preserved in Odisha State Museum, Exploration of Prachi Valley, Decorative Art of Parasurameswar Temple and Odisha Historical Research journal tomorrow.

Earlier, a gallery displaying a range of masks was also inaugurated at Odisha State Museum here in the month of May.  The masks highlighting the state's diversity in the form of ethnic artefacts and paintings have been given prominence at the gallery.

Museum officials informed that the no fees will be collected from visitors for two days starting from today while a new lift for senior citizens was also inaugurated on the occasion.
