Bhubaneswar: Commissonerate Police on Thursday claimed a breakthrough in the ITER Fake Placement scam by arresting an MBA graduate from Gurgaon, taking the number of arrests in the job row to three.
The accused has been identified as Vikash Lunayach who was arrested on June 27 and has been brought on a transit remand.
Addressing a press conference, Police Commissioner YB Khurania informed that, Vikash acted as one of the key ‘coordinators’ between ITER and fake placement agencies.
Khurania said it is being touted as a major placement scam since several top companies on whose behalf placement drives were conducted have thoroughly disowned organising such campus recruitments.
The Commissioner further revealed that the entire fake placements were conducted in an organised and well planned manner while the role of several other persons is also under scanner.
Commissionerate Police officials further informed that Vikash was present during similar fake campus drives held in Bhubaneswar on five occasions.
“Vikash was staying in a hostel and had come in contact with several persons involved in the ITER fake placement scam including additional dean of placement Raj Kumar Hota and Manas Nayak and others which is subjected to further verfication,” said Khurania.
Additional dean of placement Raj Kumar Hota was earlier arrested in connection with the fake placement scam on May 26 while Manas was arrested from Puri on June 2.
